Spirit Energy: Installation of Cardinal Buoy Systems at DP3 and DP4

Commencement a programme of cardinal buoy system installation around both the remaining DP3, and the remaining DP4, platform jacket structures from 9th July 2021.

Please be advised that the Bay Towage - operated MV Torch multi-purpose vessel, mobilising from the Port of Barrow and working on behalf of Spirit Energy, is scheduled, subject to suitable weather, to commence a programme of cardinal buoy system installation around both the remaining DP3, and the remaining DP4, platform jacket structures from 9th July 2021. The structures are located in the east Irish Sea.

4 no. buoys, one each at the N, S, E, and W points of the compass, will be installed around each jacket structure. Each buoy will be positioned at an approximate 400m radius from the structure. A maximum 80m swing radius is designed into each buoy’s mooring system to ensure that it stays within the 500m safety zone of each structure.

The vessel will require to make 2 mobilisations per cardinal buoy system installation. The work programme will therefore take several days, and may need to be extended to allow for weather delays.

The remaining jacket structures, following removal of their topside earlier this year, extend to ca. 16.5 m (DP3) and 17.0 m above LAT (DP4) respectively. The structures remain attached to the seabed.

NW Schooner Subsea Well - Missing Debris Cap

The Debris Cap for the NW Schooner subsea well has been identified as missing, leaving the wellhead more vulnerable to snagging on fishing nets. The Debris Cap is 4.5m x 3.9m x 1.4m and approx 3.5 tonnes, whilst the wellhead stands 6m off the seabed.

The approximate dimensions of the Debris Cap is 4.5m x 3.9m x 1.4m with a weight of approximately 3.5 tonnes. It is not known whether the Debris Cap is lying within a 500m zone of the well. A 200m x 200m area centred on the well has been searched, with no sight of it. Therefore the exact location of the Debris Cap is unknown. The loss of the Debris Cap leaves the NW Schooner wellhead more vulnerable to snagging from trawler/fishing nets. The approximate size of the tree with over trawl legs deployed is 7.8m x 7.8m x 6m high.

Seismic 2D Survey - RDI21 - MCG21001 (mid-July - end-July operations)

Geoex MCG will be acquiring the Regional Deep Imaging Project 2021 (RDI21) between May and September 30th, 2021. The survey is a cross border 2D seismic survey in Norway, UK, Faroe Islands and Denmark.

The aim of the survey is to image deep seated crustal structures in the North Sea and a single source of 6,270 cu.in and one cable of 12 km length towed at 15-30m depth (slant) will be used. The survey will be carried out by the seismic vessel M/V Akademik Lazarev (UAJS) and Jan van Gent (YJVF4) will be the support vessel.

There will be two FLOs onboard, one Norwegian from Geograf Maritime and one from SFF Services Limited (Scottish Fishermen's Federation). In addition, the vessel will have MMO and PAM operators onboard.

Since RDI21 is a very regional survey, there will be some flexibility in deviating from the preplotted survey lines, if needed.

* The survey has been divided into several notices where each notice contains the lines that are planned to be acquired within the time frame specified in the heading. The .png map shows the full RDI21 2D survey outline.)
