Seismic 2D Survey - RDI21 - MCG21001 (April to mid-May operations)
GeoexMCG will be acquiring the 'Regional Deep Imaging Project 2021' (RDI21) between April 15th and September 30th, 2021. The survey is a cross border 2D seismic survey in Norway, UK, Faroe Islands and Denmark.
The aim of the survey is to image deep seated crustal structures in the North Sea and a single source of 6,270 cu.in and one cable of 12 km length towed at 15-30m depth (slant) will be used. The survey will be carried out by the seismic vessel M/V Akademik Lazarev (UAJS) and Jan van Gent (YJVF4) will be the support vessel.
There will be two FLOs onboard, one Norwegian from Geograf Maritime and one from SFF Service Limited (Scottish Fishermen's Federation). In addition, the vessel will have MMO and PAM operators onboard.
Since RDI21 is a very regional survey, there will be some flexibility in deviating from the preplotted survey lines, if needed.
The survey has been divided into several notices where each notice contains the lines that are planned to be acquired within the time frame specified in the heading. The .png map shows the full RDI21 2D survey outline.

Snagging Hazard - Dropped Object Weight 115kg
Wireless telemetry basket containing measuring 1.4 m x 1.4 m and weighs 115 kg when submerged.
As part of the initial drilling operations in 2019, the wellhead assembly was fitted with a cap containing a transponder for the relaying of monitoring data from downhole gauges and a basket was placed on the seabed adjacent to the well containing associated wireless telemetry equipment.
It has now been observed that both the cap and the basket are no longer present.
PFML are on location conducting an ROV based visual inspection of the suspended Well 205/26b-14 in the Lincoln field west of Shetland. The Olympic Taurus arrived at the well location and deployed the ROV for inspection at the seabed. On inspection neither the cap or basket were present.
No instances of snagged fishing gear or other debris have been identified on the wellhead.
The risk is that trawled gear may snag on the basket and cause damage. It is expected that he basket is too light to trap the vessel and cause any significant threat. The cap is smaller, so there is a risk the nets may lift the cap to surface and cause a risk to personnel on the vessel. However, as the cap is now off the wellhead, it is likely to be sitting flush with the seabed and is unlikely to be picked up by gear working in this area, as it is typically designed to bounce over the top of seabed obstacles (like the many boulders in the area).
The vessel and ROV has conducted a search around the well, 250 m x 250 m grid with 20m line spacing, and not identified the objects.
PFML intend to go back to abandon the well this year, which would include an as left survey, so further efforts will be made then to locate and recover. If not found, no other action will be taken.

Scapa Field - Umbilical Installation & DSV Intervention
RSRUK give notice of DSV intervention in the Scapa Field, for the installation of a new control umbilical between the Claymore A Platform and the Scapa Template, including associated diving works.
The SCAPA production protection project will aim to safeguard production from the current 3 operating Subsea wells, and in addition will re-start production from E12.
Gas lift is required for production for each of the four Subsea Wells. Of the original 6 gas lift lines, 3 have been removed form service due to external corrosion and the others are to be retired during the project.
Gas life will be provided to the SCAPA template by re-purposing an existing 6" test line. Control of gas lift will be performed by the introduction of 4 new subsea gas lift chokes (one per well) and a dedicated control system to allow individual control feedback.
A new electro-hydraulic umbilical will also be installed to safeguard chemical injection routing from the Claymore platform to the field as part of the project. This will also provide the conduit for hydraulic and electrical control/feedback to the newly installed subsea chokes.
A water Injection Flowmeter and Pressure/Temperature Transducers shall also be installed to aid feedback from the Scapa Subsea system.

Breagh Pipelines - Exposed Fibre Optic Cable
The Breagh fibre optic cable (PL2770) is exposed on the seabed along various stages of the route between Redcar and the Breagh A platform.
A scallop dredger became snagged on an exposed section of the fibre optic cable in June 2019 causing serious damage to the fibre optic cable and subsequently had to abandon retrieval of his gear for safety reasons. This notification is made to the fishermen, operating between Redcar and the Breagh A platform, to be advised that the fibre optic cable represents a serious snag risk to both scallop dredgers and static gear fishing in the vicinity of the line.
Fishermen are advised to stay away from the line to avoid the risk of becoming snagged on the unburied sections of cable.
