Talbot Field Devleopment Project
Subsea activities on Talbot will commence 31st March 2024 with diving preparatory works within the Judy Platform 500m safety zone. This will be followed by the installation of a new 15km long 12”/18” Pipe-In-Pipe Pipeline and Electro Hydraulic Chemical (EHC) Control Umbilical between the Talbot Field and the Judy Platform. A Survey Support Vessel (SUV) will be used to support pipeline and umbilical lay operations as well as performing the pre-commissioning activities for the newly installed pipeline. A Trenching Support Vessel (TSV) will be used to plough and backfill the pipeline and umbilical. On completion of pipelay and trenching activities, a rock dump vessel will perform spot rock dump activities along the pipeline and umbilical route and at the existing pipeline crossing locations.
A subsea manifold structure (Talbot DC1 Manifold) will be installed at the Talbot field location using a Construction Support Vessel (CSV). The CSV will also install a further subsea structure (Talbot SSIV Manifold) within the Judy Platform 500m safety zone.
A Dive Support Vessel (DSV) will perform the tie-ins of the newly installed pipeline and umbilical at the Talbot DC1 Manifold location and within Judy Platform 500m safety zone. The DSV will also support the commissioning of the pipeline and umbilical.
All vessels will be transiting back and forth between the Talbot and Judy locations numerous times during the construction phase.
Affleck Field Development Project
Subsea activities on Affleck will commence circa 18th April 2024 with a new 21km 8”/12” Pipe-In-Pipe Pipeline to be laid between the Affleck Manifold and the Talbot Field DC1 Manifold, and a new 36km Electro Hydraulic Chemical (EHC) Control Umbilical to be laid between the Judy Platform and the Affleck Manifold. In support of the pipelay and umbilical lay there will be a survey support vessel and two Trenching vessels, one to plough and backfill the pipeline and one to jet trench the EHC Umbilical. The survey support vessel will also be performing the pre-commissioning activities for the newly installed pipeline. The vessels will be transiting back and forth between these locations numerous times during the construction activities.
A Dive Support Vessel (DSV) will be performing the tie-ins of the newly installed pipeline and umbilical at the Affleck Manifold Location, the Talbot DC1 Manifold location and within Judy Platform 500m zone. The DSV will also support the commissioning of the pipeline and umbilical.
On completion of pipelay and trenching activities a rock dump vessel will perform spot rock dump activities along the pipeline and umbilical route and at the existing pipeline crossing locations. The rock dump activities are currently split into two separate scopes.
The earliest start date for Affleck operations to commence is 18th April 2024.
Key Co-ordinates
Key location co-ordinates are given in this bulletin. Also, please refer to the attached marked-up Admiralty Charts.
There are established 500m safety exclusion zones at all of these locations. Construction vessels will be operating both within and between all of the above mentioned 500m safety zones during the construction phase. All mariners are advised to remain clear of these locations until construction operations are completed.

Wishbone Survey - Borehole Sample Drilling
Geotechnical borehole drilling (for sampling purposes) to be conducted at the Wishbone location comprising of a total of six individual boreholes over approximately 10 days. A clearance of 200m is requested around the Fugro Quest during operations.
Six geotechnical boreholes to be drilled from the vessel "Fugro Quest" at the Wishbone location over a period of approximately 10 days.
A seabed frame (~13 tonnes) will be placed and used to build a drill string to each location. The seabed frame acts as a counterweight when the tests are to be carried out. The instruments are taken down to the seabed through the drill string. Both in situ tests will be carried out in the borehole, and samples will be taken which will later be tested onshore in the laboratory. When the first drill hole is finished, the boat will pull up the drill string and the seabed frame so that they hang 10m above the seabed before moving to the next location. No anchoring is required during operations. The duration of each borehole should be approximately 12 hours.

Drilling - Baker Exploration well
Drilling of the Baker exploration well by the Noble Resilient jack-up drilling rig
Petrogas North Sea Ltd intends to carry out drilling operations using the jack-up drill rig “Noble Resilient” at the Baker gas field . The work is expected to take around 55 days at the Baker location after which the rig will move to the Abbey location for a further 85 days of drilling. However the actual duration will depend on both operational and weather factors. Whilst at each location the vessel will be static and connected to the seabed so is unable to move or manoeuvre its position.
Petrogas seeks the cooperation of fishermen to refrain from placing static fishing gear within 500m of the two Abbey or Baker well site locations, where the jack-up drill vessel will be working, This is to avoid any entanglement, interference or damage to either the fishing gear or drilling equipment.

Obstruction - Well 44/21-1
An obstruction has been identified, it is believed to be less than 1m above the seabed.
There is no recorded infrastructure within this area. There is an Abandoned Phase 3 wellbore within the area of this obstruction.
The surveying company will complete another survey in the near future to visualise the obstruction better, but this is not confirmed yet. In the meantime we would like to make you aware as we believe this obstruction is not currently recorded on any admiralty charts.

Pipeline Decommissioning - Western Isles to Tern
The 6" gas export / import pipeline between the Western Isles and Tern Developments will be decommissioned.
The Pipeline will be disconnected from the Tern subsea isolation valve (within the Tern platform 500 m safety exclusion zone) and the Western Isles North Riser Base (within the Western Isles FPSO / mid-water arches 500 m safety exclusion zones). Surface-laid connecting spools and associated mattresses at both ends of the pipeline will be removed. The pipeline sections back to the existing rock armour cover will be cut and recovered. The exposed ends will be temporarily protected useing concrete mattresses, and subsequently permanently covered with new rock armour.

Infield pipelines and manifolds associated with the Western Isles Development will be decommissioned
Risers, tie-in spools, manifolds and mid-water arches will be recovered from the seabed. The surface laid pipeline bundles serving the North and South drill centres will have appurtenances removed from their upper surfaces, but will remain in place until a decommissioning option is finalised. Wellheads will be left in place with existing fishing protection structures pending a future plug and abandonment campaign.
New rock armour will be deposited to protect exposed pipeline bundle ends at the North and South Drill Centre and North and South Riser Base locations.

Seabed hazards following removal of Banff FPSO anchors & moorings
A series of deep, steep sided trenches at mooring line touchdown points. Moorings and anchors have been removed, leaving the seabed features.
10 mooring line trenches, varying in length from 70m to 180m; up to 8 metres wide and up to 9 metres deep. These trenches are steep-sided, cut into the clay seabed. Remediation of 7 of these trenches has been partially completed, although seabed verification has not yet been carried out.

The Western Isles FPSO will be disconnected from the subsea risers and moorings and floated off station. The mooring lines and piles will subsequently be recovered.
The FPSO will be disconnected from the subsea production, water injection and service umbilical risers, which will be temporarily laid on the seabed. The FPSO will then be disconnected from its moorings, with mooring lines also temporarily laid down on the seabed. The FPSO will then be towed off station using anchor handling tugs. The mooring lines will be recovered and the mooring piles will be cut 3 m below the seabed.
