The Ocean Endeavor will be completing a short rig move within the Penguins field from C-Triassic to Pan North. The rig move is planned ~27th July. This notice is to cover the pre-lays that will be installed 18th July.


Anchors will extend up to 1.8km out from well centre, made up of fibre and chain, configured as a catenary.

Decommissioning - Leman 27J



Decommissioning activity will be carried out at the Leman 27J platform between July and November 2024. The ERDA Jackup Barge will be interfaced with the platform for the duration of the project. The decommissioning will involve the plug and abandonment of all wells, making the topside hydrocarbon safe (HSC), and the removal of the topside and it transport to shore for recycling.

Rig Move Schiehallion West Drill Centre to Alligin Drill Centre



Please be advised that the semi-sub rig Ocean GreatWhite expects to depart Schiehallion West Drill Centre (DC) circa 12th July and is due at Alligin DC, (NE of the Glen Lyon FPSO) circa 13th July. Ground chain and surface buoys are already in place as per this notice. Anchor handler tugs will be on site for 3-7 days to support hook up. On completion of the move, surface buoys will be removed and a future notice will advise the fully hooked up location of the rig and moorings.

Subsea Well Decommissioning (Plug & Abandon) - Topaz Field



The Topaz subsea well will be decommissioned during July/ August 2024. MSV Seawell Light Well Intervention Vessel will be performing well P&A activities, including diving activities, at this location, with an ERRV in attendance. A 500 metre safety zone will be in place around the MSV Seawell.


The Topaz subsea well will be decommissioned during July/ August 2024.

 

MSV Seawell Light Well Intervention Vessel is expected to be on location from 15/07/24, for a period up to 20 days.

 

The MSV will be performing well P&A activities, including diving activities, at this location, with an ERRV in attendance. The MSV Seawell wll be positioned on DP, with no anchors.

 

A 500 metre safety zone will be in place around the MSV Seawell.

Obstruction - Well 44/21-1



An obstruction has been identified, it is believed to be less than 1m above the seabed.


There is no recorded infrastructure within this area. There is an Abandoned Phase 3 wellbore within the area of this obstruction.

 

The surveying company will complete another survey in the near future to visualise the obstruction better, but this is not confirmed yet. In the meantime we would like to make you aware as we believe this obstruction is not currently recorded on any admiralty charts.

4D Survey - Mariner Field



2 yearly 4D seismic survey over the Mariner Field area. The main survey vessel will be towing 8 streamers of 3000m length with 75m separation towed behind main streamer vessel.


Survey carried out by the vessels SW Amundsen, SW Mikkelsen, Maria-G and Amber-G.

SW Amundsen will be towing a spread of 8 streamers of 3000m length with around 750m total width at 18m depth around the Mariner A platform and Mariner B FSO.

There are a total of 67 sail lines in the NW-SE direction around the installations. 5 of those sail lines will be performed as undershoot lines where SW Mikkelsen will join SW Amundsen as a source vessel towing a source spread measuring approximately of length 200m, width 100m on opposite side of Mariner A compared to SW Amundsen.

When towing the seismic spread, SW Amundsen will be restricted in her manoeuvrability. She will have a speed of around 5 knots.

Maria-G and Amber-G will act as support and escort vessels for SW Amundsen and SW Mikkelsen during the survey.

Geophysical Survey Campaign 2 - Viking CCS, Jamine, Armada, Solan



Multi-site Geophysical, shallow geotechnical and Environmental survey operations


Ocean Geograph shall mobilise from Leith ~ Monday 27th May 24 (subject ongoing operations and weather) and is engaged to acquire a series of geophysical surveys, route geotechnical data and environmental baselining at various sites throughout the UKCS. Indicative schedule and high level scope detailed below;

 

Viking CCS - Block 49/22 - 49/17 (Victor Gas Field adjacement to Swarte Bank) - Ongoing operation, antiicpated completion ~13th July 24

           28km Route survey with shallow geotechnical sampling & 2DHR Shallow Seismic Survey 6km x 3.25km area

 

Jamine - Block 30/6 & 30/7a - 1000m x 1000m Debris and Bathymetry survey - ~36Hrs Operations ~14th July 24

 

Armada - Block 30/6 & 30/7a - 1000m x 1000m Debris and Bathymetry survey - ~36Hrs Operations ~16th July 24

 

Solan - Block 205/26a - Environmental Baseline and Habitat Assessment survey - ~96hrs Operations ~ 19th July 24

 

During acquisition of shallow seismic operations the vessel shall be towing a 1200m streamer, sonar fish and piggy backed magnetometer,  all analogue survey works shall be limited to sonar fish, magnetometer and sub bottom profiler. 

 

During all survey operations the vessel will  be Restricted in her Ability to Manoeuvre (RAM), all vessels are requested to maintain a wide berth during active survey operations and remove any static gear within the planned working areas, ref attached survey line plans.

 

A Fisheries Liaison Officer shall be onboard the vessel and shall notify/liaise as applicable.

Geotechnical and Environmental survey - Q01 wellsite



Geotechnical and Environmental survey of Q01 wellsite


The survey vessel Geo Ocean VI will conduct a 0.5 Km x 0.5 Km rig site geophysical survey using multibeam echo sounder, side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler. magnetometer and ultra high resolution survey equipment in order to establish the seabed bathymetry, seabed debris and features, shallow soil strata and strength, etc. prior to the arrival of a Jack-Up drill rig. Some equipment is towed behind the vessel and shipping is requested to stay clear of the vessel’s stern.

 

The vessel will survey approx. 11 parallel lines spaced 50 m apart to cover the survey area and them repeat the lines at 90 deg to form a grid pattern.

 

The survey work is expected to take 1-3 days depending on weather and operational conditions.

Paul B Lloyd Jnr (PBLJ) Rig Move Notification - North West Seymour to Gilderoy



The Paul B Lloyd Jnr MODU will be moved from its current location at North West Seymour (Block 22/5B) to the open water Gilderoy location (Block 15/28) ~ mid August 2024.


Prior to arrival at the Gilderoy Location - (58 06'.25''N  OOO 25' 22''E / 348238.00E 6 443749.00N), 8 moorings shall be pre-laid within ~2000m of the above location.  On conclusion of operations the deployed anchor and chain positions shall be further updated and applicable Guard Vessel provisions shall be made. Moorings may be pre-laid at the Gilderoy location as early as mid-end July 24. 

 

During the ~47nm rig move from North West Seymour the rig shall be towed by 2 vessels (TBN). All vessels are requested to maintain a wide berth

 

Upon locating of the rig at the Gilderoy location a statutory 500 meter exclusion zone shall be established.

The wider greater working area, within which the survey vessel will maneuver during line turns and during equipment deployment and recovery, is anticipated to be 36 km2


The scope at the Abbey- York pipeline involves the collection of geophysical geotechnical and environmental data,  The proposed pipeline area, within which the survey vessels will manoeuvre during line turns and during equipment deployment and recovery, is anticipated to be 33 km2 (kilometres squared). . The proposed Abbey-York pipeline is located 28 km northeast of the UK coastline and 150 km from the UK/ Netherlands transboundary line.

Decommissioned Gas Installation - Hewett 52/5A



Transit of Final Location of Heavy Lift Vessels (HLV) Scaldis Rambiz & Gulliver. Scaldis will start with the removal of the decommissioned gas installation the Hewett 52/5A beginning of May 2024. There will be an HLV located at 52/5A completing the removal of the installation topsides and jacket and will be transiting from the port of Flushing to the location on the 1st of May. The HLV is expected to be on location on the 2nd of May as per the schedule below.


The schedule below provides an overview of the planned works for HLV Rambiz, HLV Gulliver and their supporting vessels for the removal of the 52/5A platform. This schedule does not include possible weather delays.

Rig move - Deepsea Yantai Semi-Submersible MODU



Deepsea Yantai - a semi-submersible Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU) is planned to be moved from Bergen to the Gaupe field to perform an abandonment campaign of two wells. The planned Rig move date is on 6th of July 2024.


The nature of activity involves rig positioning/anchor handling for a well abandonment campaign lasting approximately 40 days for the entire operation. The rig will be protected by a 500m zone but will have anchor lines connected to it beyond this area. The rig will start operation on Gaupe South location on the 6th and the operation is expected to take between 14-21 days to complete. It will then move to Gaupe North location to repeat same scope which also is exptected to take 14-21 days to complete.

Subsea Decommissioning - Western Isles Field Decommissioning Project



Dana Petroleum (E&P) Limited has contracted Boskalis Subsea Services Limited (BSS) for the Western Isles Field Decommissioning Project


The Western Isles Development (WID), operated by Dana Petroleum (E&P) Limited , comprises the Harris and Barra fields and is located in Block 201/24a of the UKCS, 160 km to the East of Shetland, and approximately 500 km North-North East of Aberdeen. BSS will have the DSV Boka Topaz in the TAQA Tern Platform 500m zone to carryout diving operations at the SSIV skid for 5 to 7 days before relocating to the Western Isles worksites for the next 50 days. The CSV Boka Northern Ocean will arrive later in the operations to assit in recovery operations.

Topsides & Conductor Removal - Brent Charlie Platform



The Pioneering Spirit SLV has been contracted for the removal of the Brent Charlie Platform topsides and conductors in July 2024. The topside removal will take aprox 3-5 days and will be transported to Seaton Port in Teesside, the vessel will return to for conductor removals which is expected to be completed by 31 August.


Brent Charlie was an attended production platform which previously served the Brent reservoir. The platform topsides will be removed July 2024 by the Pioneering Spirit SLV (single lift vessel), leaving the concrete legs and GBS in place.  The leg tops will protrude above the water surface at approximately 8.5m above LAT excluding the thickness of the concrete caps and the height of the Nav-Aid. Operations will commence at 4 July 2024 and are expected to be completed by 31 August 2024. Note that these dates are subject to operational and weather conditions and may commence earlier and be complete late than expected.

Boulder (2.3m x 2.2m x 1.5m) next to Britannia gas export pipeline. Boulder has been dragged next to the line by a fishing net. Fishing net is tangled around the boulder and associated trawl board is located nearby. Pipeline is marked on admiralty charts so should not be fished over. However, if it is there is a risk that another fishing net could become tangled around the boulder. This has potential to cause harm to the fishing net / boat and also pipeline.

Pipeline Decommissioning - Western Isles to Tern



The 6" gas export / import pipeline between the Western Isles and Tern Developments will be decommissioned.


The Pipeline will be disconnected from the Tern subsea isolation valve (within the Tern platform 500 m safety exclusion zone) and the Western Isles North Riser Base (within the Western Isles FPSO / mid-water arches 500 m safety exclusion zones). Surface-laid connecting spools and associated mattresses at both ends of the pipeline will be removed. The pipeline sections back to the existing rock armour cover will be cut and recovered. The exposed ends will be temporarily protected useing concrete mattresses, and subsequently permanently covered with new rock armour.

Western Isles infield subsea infrastructure decommissioning



Infield pipelines and manifolds associated with the Western Isles Development will be decommissioned


Risers, tie-in spools, manifolds and mid-water arches will be recovered from the seabed. The surface laid pipeline bundles serving the North and South drill centres will have appurtenances removed from their upper surfaces, but will remain in place until a decommissioning option is finalised. Wellheads will be left in place with existing fishing protection structures pending a future plug and abandonment campaign.

 

New rock armour will be deposited to protect exposed pipeline bundle ends at the North and South Drill Centre and North and South Riser Base locations.

Victory Field Development Project



The Victory Project is to develop the Victory subsea gas field as a single well tie-back to the Shetland Gas Plant. This is to be achieved by drilling a new well and installing a pipeline to route hydrocarbons via an existing hot tap tee into the existing Greater Laggan Area (GLA) pipeline system to export via the Shetland Gas Plant.

Foinaven Buoyant Risers



As per a previous notification (Sep 2022), the Petrojarl FPSO has been removed from the Foinaven field. 13 risers remain on site, with buoyant sections located up to 160m above the seabed. A recent check confirmed riser location and height has not changed, but they remain a snagging hazard. 3 new Statutory Instrument 500m safety zones replace the original FPSO safety zone - visible on Admiralty charts and Fishsafe. The zones fully encompass all buoyant risers, and remaining seabed assets.

Seabed hazards following removal of Banff FPSO anchors & moorings



A series of deep, steep sided trenches at mooring line touchdown points. Moorings and anchors have been removed, leaving the seabed features.


10 mooring line trenches, varying in length from 70m to 180m; up to 8 metres wide and up to 9 metres deep. These trenches are steep-sided, cut into the clay seabed. Remediation of 7 of these trenches has been partially completed, although seabed verification has not yet been carried out.

Western Isles FPSO & moorings decommissioning



The Western Isles FPSO will be disconnected from the subsea risers and moorings and floated off station. The mooring lines and piles will subsequently be recovered.


The FPSO will be disconnected from the subsea production, water injection and service umbilical risers, which will be temporarily laid on the seabed. The FPSO will then be disconnected from its moorings, with mooring lines also temporarily laid down on the seabed. The FPSO will then be towed off station using anchor handling tugs. The mooring lines will be recovered and the mooring piles will be cut 3 m below the seabed.

Jackdaw Development - North Sea



The Jackdaw field is an ultra-high pressure/high temperature (uHPHT) reservoir that will be developed with a not permanently attended Wellhead Platform (WHP). Four wells will be drilled at the Jackdaw WHP. Produced fluids will be exported via a subsea pipeline to the Shearwater platform where these will be processed before onward export via the Fulmar Gas Line and the Forties Pipeline System. Rig Move - COSL Pioneer Semi-Submersible MODU



COSL Pioneer - a semi-submersible Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU) is planned to move from Ithaca Captain Field (Block 13/22a) to Ettrick field (Blocks 20/2a and 20/3a) to perform an abandonment campaign of five wells. The planned Rig move date is on 14th April 2024.


Anchor pre-lay is due to commence Thursday 4th April at the earliest, with the COSL Pioneer due to move to location 1-2 weeks later (current estimate 14th April).

 

The nature of activity involves rig positioning/anchor handling for a well abandonment campaign lasting approximately 183 days for the entire operation. 

 

Precautions taken to reduce impact on shipping and other sea users:

  • Advance notice to other sea users/marine authorities/fishing information services will be provided.
  • A dedicated ERRV will be in attendance, fitted with ARPA Radars and AIS systems and shall perform monitoring of all traffic via a 24-hour lookout on the bridge. The ERRV shall keep records of all logged vessels in the area.
  • The COSL Pioneer will use its navigation lights and warning devices, such as obstruction lights and foghorn, to advise shipping of its presence while on location.

Subsea Construction & Pipelay Activities - Talbot & Affleck Developments



Harbour Energy intends to undertake subsea construction & pipelay works on the Talbot Field Development project between March & September 2024. The Field Development traverses across UKCS Blocks 30/07b, 30/12a, 30/13d & 30/13e. In addition, NEO Energy also intends to undertake subsea construction & pipelay works on the Affleck Field redevelopment project commencing ca. 18th April 2024. The Field Development traverses across UKCS Blocks 30/07b, 30/12a, 30/13c, 30/13d, 30/13e, 30/14a & 30/19a.


Talbot Field Devleopment Project

 

Subsea activities on Talbot will commence 31st March 2024 with diving preparatory works within the Judy Platform 500m safety zone.  This will be followed by the installation of a new 15km long 12”/18” Pipe-In-Pipe Pipeline and Electro Hydraulic Chemical (EHC) Control Umbilical between the Talbot Field and the Judy Platform.  A Survey Support Vessel (SUV) will be used to support pipeline and umbilical lay operations as well as performing the pre-commissioning activities for the newly installed pipeline.  A Trenching Support Vessel (TSV) will be used to plough and backfill the pipeline and umbilical.  On completion of pipelay and trenching activities, a rock dump vessel will perform spot rock dump activities along the pipeline and umbilical route and at the existing pipeline crossing locations. 

 

A subsea manifold structure (Talbot DC1 Manifold) will be installed at the Talbot field location using a Construction Support Vessel (CSV).  The CSV will also install a further subsea structure (Talbot SSIV Manifold) within the Judy Platform 500m safety zone. 

 

A Dive Support Vessel (DSV) will perform the tie-ins of the newly installed pipeline and umbilical at the Talbot DC1 Manifold location and within Judy Platform 500m safety zone. The DSV will also support the commissioning of the pipeline and umbilical. 

 

All vessels will be transiting back and forth between the Talbot and Judy locations numerous times during the construction phase.

 

Affleck Field Developmentv Project 

 

Subsea activities on Affleck will commence circa 18th April 2024 with a new 21km 8”/12” Pipe-In-Pipe Pipeline to be laid between the Affleck Manifold and the Talbot Field DC1 Manifold, and a new 36km Electro Hydraulic Chemical (EHC) Control Umbilical to be laid between the Judy Platform and the Affleck Manifold.  In support of the pipelay and umbilical lay there will be a survey support vessel and two Trenching vessels, one to plough and backfill the pipeline and one to jet trench the EHC Umbilical.  The survey support vessel will also be performing the pre-commissioning activities for the newly installed pipeline.  The vessels will be transiting back and forth between these locations numerous times during the construction activities.

 

A Dive Support Vessel (DSV) will be performing the tie-ins of the newly installed pipeline and umbilical at the Affleck Manifold Location, the Talbot DC1 Manifold location and within Judy Platform 500m zone.  The DSV will also support the commissioning of the pipeline and umbilical.

 

On completion of pipelay and trenching activities a rock dump vessel will perform spot rock dump activities along the pipeline and umbilical route and at the existing pipeline crossing locations.  The rock dump activities are currently split into two separate scopes.

 

The earliest start date for Affleck operations to commence is 18th April 2024 with the operations expected to last until the end of September.

There are established 500m safety exclusion zones at all of these locations.   Construction vessels will be operating both within and between all of the above mentioned 500m safety zones during the construction phase.  All mariners are advised to remain clear of these locations until construction operations are completed.
