Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) - Norfolk Coast
Operations of remotely piloted Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) are planned off the Norfolk Coast. Up to four (4) USVs will be mobilised from Lowestoft at any one time, where they will transit to the areas of operation. During the operations, the USVs will be performing a Hydrographic Survey of the areas specified below. Support vessels (MV Elysse MMSI 232019288 & Newlife MMSI 232029166) will escort the USVs.
Support vessels (MV Elysse MMSI 232019288 & Newlife MMSI 232029166) will escort the USVs from the harbour entrance and will then continue transiting towards the survey sites until the area is safe & clear of hazards. Once the survey is complete, the USVs will return to Port, again with a support vessel as an escort.
It is requested that other vessels remain clear, so far as is practicable, during transit & survey operations.
Although the vessel is uncrewed, it is managed throughout the 24-hour operation, piloted remotely using 360 degree cameras and other navigational aids.
The USVs sends real time images and situational awareness data over satellite to a team of operators keeping watch and controlling the vessel remotely 24/7.

Decommissioning operations - Spirit Energy A-Fields and Ensign Field Decommissioning
Spirit Energy has contracted a Deep Ocean - operated CSV (likely the Normand Jarstein) to undertake further decommissioning activities - the removal of redundant subsea infrastructure - in the A-Fields and Ensign fields, located in the southern North Sea. The fields formerly produced natural gas and condensate.
The activities will take place at the Ann, Alison and Annabel subsea installations, and also at the former locations of the Audrey A, Audrey B and Ensign platforms, and are scheduled to commence during late Q3 2023 and to continue through Q4 2023.
Note that while the jackets and topsides of the Audrey A and Audrey B platforms and the Ensign platform were successfully removed during July 2023, remnant subsea structures exist within the footprint of where each platform jacket formerly stood (awaiting removal by the CSV).
All activities (other than vessel transits) will take place within the HSE-recognised 500 m safety zones that remain established at the former location of each platform, and at the subsea installations.
