OBN seismic survey - Martin Linge Field
Node-on-a-rope seismic survey over the Martin Linge Field. Up to 7700 seismic nodes are to be laid on the seabed. *Please avoid this area while the survey is ongoing.*
Survey to be carried out by the vessels SW Vespucci, SW Amundsen, Ocean Dee and Thor Alpha.
SW Vespucci will lay nodes on the seabed around the Martin Linge platform and Martin Linge FSO. The nodes are organised in a series of 27 lines in the NE-SW direction. On each line, there will be a node every 25m. Nodes lines are 400m apart.
When deploying the nodes, SW Vespucci will be very restricted in her manoeuvrability. She will have nodes, ropes and weights being deployed from her stern at a speed of 0.5-2 knots.
After nodes have been deployed SW Amundsen will then deploy 2 seismic sources and fire shot points every 25m over the whole area at an average speed of 4.5 knots. Shot points are also fired along straight lines in the NE-SW direction. The source lines will be 100m apart. The towed equipment behind Vespucci when acting as source vessel will measure approximately 200m x 100m (LxW).
Ocean Dee and Thor Alpha will act as support and escort vessels for SW Vespucci and SW Amundsen during the survey.
